We headed out of Edinburgh in search of Stirling and it's famed castle. As usual we became sidetracked and discovered the Falkirk Wheel. This massive contraption has replaced about 10 locks and is able to raise the canal vessels some 32 metres from the Firth and Clyde Canal up to the Union Canal. Had to have a ride on that one!!
Found Stirling and hiked up to it's castle and then quickly found the Doune Castle. We drove some pretty country side, along Loch Lomond and then found our way to the quiet fishing village of Tarbert on the Mull of Kintyre. I had previoulsy stayed in Tarbert during Perisher and had the pleasure of a days fishing with the locals some six years ago.
